Animals

We are fundamentally tied to our existence when we lived for millions of years as hunters/gatherers. All of our drives for sex, hunger, power, dominance, social acceptance, are all residual effects of our ancestor's lifestyle. But where does all the other stuff come into play? All the complexities of human relationships seem to be inflated for us comapared to other animals on earth. Is it just because we have so much time to think about and perfect our relationships with others, in a world that is overpopulated with humans, whereas before all we had to think about was survival, protecting the young and weak, shelter, and the procreation of our own genes?
